"An entirely faithful translation from one language into another is virtually impossible."
Bohumil Mathesius, Czech linguist and translator
The question is: What is a good translation?
How many times have we, Czechs, encountered an advertising slogan that did not
sound Czech at all because it was a literal translation from a foreign language?
Then we had to struggle; looking for the original meaning and the actual message.
Most people agree that a good translation corresponds to the overall context
and comprehension of the target language. That’s where both the difficulty and
intrigue of translation and interpreting lies.
The most vulnerable genre to mis-translation is poetry and fiction.
But, isn’t advertising and marketing just as complicated? Computers and
dictionaries cannot replace translators in the field of marketing, they can only
speed up their work.
All this is very much true for English, especially American English, as it has been
the world’s fastest developing language.
This is what we base our professional translations on.
We are qualified and we have experience: Let us work for you!
We work fast (sometimes from across the ocean) but never at the expense
of quality.
